Chief's Parade mass shooting response

Mobilization Information:

On February 14, 2024, at the parade celebrating the Kansas City Chief's win of the Super Bowl, a shooting occurred, killing one and wounding many. An event designed for the city to come together to celebrate, became a scene with chaos and tragedy.  It is the mission of the Kansas City Trauma Recovery Network, to provide pro bono EMDR mental health support in the form of individual therapy, and/or group intervention.  Current steps are being taken place to support those individuals affected:

  • Social Media outreach to collect volunteers licensed mental health therapists, including those EMDR trained, who are invested in providing pro bono services

  • Communication with city organizations to coordinate mobilization, including but not limited to: the office of Quinton Lucas, 41 Action News, etc.

  • Partnership with EMDRIA's TRN network

  • Communication to the Kansas City Chief's requesting partnership for mobilization of services
